Let’s Collaborate!

Dear Alliance,

As many of you know, we are engaged in strategic planning to turn our BIG idea into a reality for local youth and families.

As part of this process, we are applying for the Maine Department of Education’s 21st Century Community Learning Center grant to create before school, after school and summer programming for RSU1 students in grades K-8.

Using a highly collaborative and mindfully coordinated approach to support the “whole” child with complete physical & mental wellness and academic success, Midcoast Community Alliance, RSU1, Mid Coast Center for Community Health & Wellness, Bath Area Family Y and Bath Parks & Recreation, in partnership with all of you, will deliver critically needed services for youth and families.

Our proposed plan would serve local students at three program sites:

  • Dike-Newell grades K-2
  • Fisher-Mitchell grades 3-5
  • Bath Recreation’s “The Park” facility located next to Bath Middle School grades 6-8

This “Anchor Program” will serve as a safe harbor for students and families in our community:

  • create a culture of mattering, helping every Anchor family member, every program professional, and every community program provider to embrace their value and potential contribution, ensuring each student feels significant and finds success.
  • before/after/summer school academic tutoring/homework assistance via a team of highly qualified educators.
  • a wide variety of dynamic academic enrichment, social/emotional, health and wellness, physical and recreational youth leadership and mentoring programming.
  • greater awareness, increased services, and effective access to services, to meet behavioral health education, prevention, and intervention needs of students and their families.
  • multiple opportunities for parent, family education.
  • an anchoring of collaboration to better serve not only Anchor students and their families ultimately all RSU1 youth and families.
  • a highly collaborative, sustainable community model to insure provision of services into the future.
  • the time, location, leadership, management, coordination and staff, to make ALL of the above and even MORE actually happen

We envision a dynamic collaboration of community resources coming together, working in harmony, for the benefit of our youth & families.

So, the BIG question is…can you help?

Does your organization offer a resource that could be offered in-kind? Do you? Do you know of someone who might be interested?

If so, please complete this In-Kind Needs Form and return it by March 5th!

Please share this with colleagues, professional, and friends!
